I am so thrilled to have snatched last minute tickets to see at Helsinki’s Opera tonight the dance piece In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated by one of my favourite artists ever, dancer and choreographer William Forsythe. I first saw his work Eidos:Telos in Montreal when I was 21 years old and I was completely transfixed. So much so that I felt compelled to return to see the next evening’s representation. It was a real aesthetic revolution in my life. So much energy, magic, strength, innovation and light. It felt like witnessing the invention of a new form of bodily movement, raw fluidity unravelling before my eyes as well as the creation of a new grammar and architecture of dance. Absolutely energizing and mesmerizing! I hope to touch upon something so blissful tonight here in Finland.
